Irresponsible trickster sends SMS hoax about bomb in Holland Village

Many Singaporeans received an SMS on Thursday, saying a bomb had been found in Holland Village.
The SMS is a hoax - there was no bomb, nor was there any security incident at Holland Village.
The police have issued a strongly-worded warning that they take a very stern view against anyone who capitalises on the recent security concerns, to cause public alarm and fear by making bomb hoaxes.
The police say they will spare no effort to track down those responsible, and press for deterrent sentences.
This is because such hoaxes cause unnecessary alarm and may also lead to tragic consequences.
Anyone convicted of a bomb hoax can be fined up to S$50,000 or jailed up to 7 years or both.
And while police say Singaporeans need to stay vigilent, there's no need to over-react.
The public should avoid unfounded speculation and not spread rumours.
They should also avoid raising false alarms, as these will only overload police and medical resources.
